INTERVIEW TIPS
Research
Research the company beforehand so that you can display that knowledge during the interview. This will boost your credibility with the interviewer and will help you to formulate intelligent questions. Access the company’s website and research archived on-line newspaper articles. This well help you approach the interview with a more commercial/strategic slant and help differentiate you from other applicants.
Practice
Practice answering your responses to the most popular interview questions asked. Think of actual examples you can use to describe your skills. Providing evidence of your successes is a great way to promote your candidacy.
Be On time
Be on time for the interview. Make sure to find out where the office is and how to get there. Allow time for unexpected traffic jams.
Look the Part
Make sure you are dressed appropriately. Regardless of the culture of the organisation, look well groomed and professional.
Sell yourself
Interviews normally last 30 to 60 minutes. This is a short period and must be used wisely for maximum impact. You should have an executive summary of your career and have clearly thought about what you can bring to that role and company. Keep answers concise. Focus on the employer’s needs and tailor your experience to match that role.
Ask questions
Remember, interviews are a two way process, and provide you with an opportunity to gather information to ascertain if the company and role fit your own requirements. Questions also provide you with an excellent opportunity to show your knowledge about and interest in the organisation.
